I learnt the hard way!

When I decided to get really serious and started to do research to find the best MLM company for me I decided to set some fairly strong criteria based on experience, that I felt would significantly increase my chances of success in the MLM industry – so to help you save 10 years here’s my list of requirements that I would recommend before you even consider joining a home business income opportunity.

Your MLM home business Company MUST :

• Be at least five years old and exhibit significant growth and success during that time.
• Provide specialised, patented, highly consumable proprietary products that we all need,
• Have low cost start up, low risk,
• Have no minimum orders to retain position,
• Have no compulsory requirements to hold any stock,
• Have no requirement to meet large group volume quotas or cross other hidden barriers,
• Have integrity and honesty as core values,
• Be run by exceptional, experienced management,
• Provide high-tech service back-up,
• Be stable and 100% debt-free,
• Provide long-term security and a have sound track record,
• Have already reached ‘momentum phase of growth’,
• Already have large numbers of associates earning over 6 figure incomes consistently
• Provide regular training through all mediums
• Be implementing massive, planned, global growth,
• Use a proven, understandable compensation plan with unlimited income potential.

Naturally this cuts down one’s options significantly!

This is because most of the opportunities in the jungle out there don’t even come close, but by ridgedly sticking to these criteria and then investigating to an extent that most people would never do, I was able to make my selection with confidence .

If you are actively looking for the best MLM company for you – well done you are definately on the right track, but DO YOUR HOMEWORK, invest time, money and effort in thoroughly investigating your choices.

If you do, above all, you will start off with confidence that you have made a good long-term decision that will build an asset that will pay you and your family for decades to come.

If you truly believe in the MLM opportunity and product or service you are marketing then this shouldn’t be a problem since those you would most like to help would be your closest contacts.

I have been able to help my family and many friends but there comes a time when you must widen the net.  A constant stream of network marketing leads is required to keep your MLM home business growing (cold market).

As a result of this demand for network marketing leads a whole lead generation industry has sprung up where companies make huge money by generating and then selling you what are called opt-in network marketing leads.

So, what do you do? Easy – You go to an opt in network marketing leads company and you buy a batch of leads. The leads are $2.25 each, so you buy 100 of them for $225.50.

Understandably many network marketers (including myself) have taken advantage of such convenience and purchased a list of names of people who are supposedly qualified and looking for a home business opportunity in the MLM industry.

Simple, just get on the phone , crunch the numbers and we’ll be rich in no time! Unfortunately in reality it just didn’t work out like that ( But I’ll come on to that later!!)

Pretty soon I was asking myself “where do they get these so called network marketing leads they sell to us?”

For the most part, opt in network marketing leads are generated over the Internet. Whilst there is no definite study that I know of to prove this, I think it is safe to assume that 85-90% of all leads you find for sale are originated on the Internet.

There are two main reasons for this.

First, the Internet is where most people are doing their research today when looking for jobs, looking for ways to make extra money, something to invest on, etc. So, why not go where the people are looking?

Second, it is the most cost effective way of generating opt in network marketing leads. A person is surfing the Internet, doing a Google search, and checking out their options for ways to make extra income. Or, sometimes the person is not even thinking about wanting more money when an online ad or offer catches their attention and they check it out. So, they fill out a form and hit submit.

They just became a prospect waiting to be sold to you.

Quite a nice system. Wouldn’t we all like to receive a batch of opt in network marketing leads of hot hungry people who had been surfing the Internet for ways of making money from home and now you have their name, phone, and E-mail address in your hands.

Of course it seems like a good idea – but let me share my experience and the effect it had on my MLM home business.

Firstly it didn’t take long to work out that:

1. The people on my expensive list were not nesscesarily looking for a MLM home business at all! Many couldn’t remember filling in their details and were not expecting someone to ring them with a business opportunity.

2. Many people had already been rung several times by other network marketers who had been sold the same lead and some had reached the stage where they were not at all open and in many cases were very rude. How did you get my name? Take me off your list etc etc – I won’t tell you what some of them said!

I quickly learnt that to succeed with this strategy I was going to need VERY thick skin!

It is a numbers game and if you have bought a high quality lead and you are quick, have great phone skills and have elephant hide then you may be able to succeed by purchasing network marketing leads.

So what’s the the problem and how will it affect you?

One of the biggest problems that exists among the Internet lead generation business is the incentives that are used to entice a person to hand over their details. If you have ever purchased opt in network marketing leads, then you have probably come across the person who did not know they were going to be contacted about a home business. Instead they thought they were going to possibly win a new Video iPod, Laptop, $10,000, or a vacation cruise!

No opt in network marketing lead is ever pure because you do not know what sites the prospect has been to, filling out forms and checking out other businesses or how many other people have been sold the same lead!

Is buying network marketing leads duplicatable?

My experience is no.

In fact, that period of training people to buy network marketing leads actually did a lot of damage since many of my team (despite being armed with scripts and training) hated the experience. Hey no-one really likes rejection and some will say “if this is what it takes I’m not doing it!”

So what’s the answer?

If you are thinking about buying opt in network marketing leads STOP. It makes much more sense long term to learn how to quickly and easily generate your own HOT, targeted, EXCLUSIVE leads. WARNING! Home business lead vendors  can see you coming a mile away!

Home business lead vendors know this little fact too and they can see you coming a mile away. This can pose a problem for all but the super savvy network marketers and people with extra-ordinary telephone skills.

Here are 5 of the main reasons you may want to consider developing  your own home business lead generation system instead of buying them  …

1. Quality.

When you purchase a home business lead from a leads vendor, you are buying a name and contact details that have been generated in a very generic way to boost the response rate of the lead generators marketing campaign. As soon as someone asks me if my home business is one of those MLM Scam Pyramid or ponzi scheme things I am pleased, because usually it means they know little or nothing about the way the multi level marketing model works.

Usually I ask “what do you mean by scam pyramid business?” – mostly they won’t know what they mean by that! And whatever they say and I can honestly answer “No”.

How come?

Because modern Network Marketing, Multi Level Marketing (MLM) Direct selling, home direct sales, whatever you want to call it is actually one of the few business models that isn’t a pyramid hierarchy!

So let’s look at the truth

When you consider the structure of the general hierarchy involved in most business, industry, commerce, government, the Church, Sports organizations, media, universities, the monarchy ….etc. and what is required to make progress up each of those organizations one can come to some interesting conclusions.

Since there is only ever one CEO or Managing Director or Chairman in a business then we can safely conclude that the top of such organizations is extremely limited and very exclusive.

Today the salaries paid to the CEO seem to be ridiculously high and out of all proportion to the value that they can possibly contribute to the organization compared to those lower down whose contribution often far outweighs their compensation.

Doesn’t seem fair does it?

Those who are able to succeed as such a CEO come from a fairly limited circle of privileged individuals who come from the same society, class, education, background or family.

Not fair again!!

Now lets compare this to how a modern legitimate multi level network marketing business works.

• Anyone can join for a very low initial investment.
• There is no exclusivity based on education, race, creed or background.
• It is the same cost for everyone.
• Everyone is treated equally.
• Everyone has the same opportunity.
• The ones who do well are the ones who do the work that leads to results.
• There is no limit to how many people who can get to the top.
• Everyone has unlimited potential.
• Anyone can earn more than the people above them.
• People are rewarded fairly based on results.

The ones at the top want others to join them and help them by doing work with them. They understand the principle that you can only become successful by helping others become successful.

That sounds fair doesn’t it!

In fact the only business model on the planet that is not a pyramid hierarchy is a legitimate network marketing business.

So if you are in direct sales the next time someone asks you “Is it one of those Pyramid scams?” say:

“Pyramid scam!!! Of course not. It’s a legal network marketing business and it’s probably one of the few things on the planet that isn’t!”
